William Joseph Batson is a Human male and son of C.C. Batson and his wife Marylin. He is the twin brother of Mary Batson, as well as the superhero known as Shazam.
Origins
Billy Batson was born to archaeologists C.C. and Marylin Batson, alongside his twin sister Mary. His parents were hired by Thaddeus Sivana, an industrialist who wanted the pair to return with materials he could use as references for the Fawcett City World's Fair. Billy couldn't go, mostly due to failing in school, resulting in him remaining in Philadelphia while Mary accompanied their parents. Mary remained in their hotel room, while their parents, along with Sivana's enforcer, Theo Adam, who discovered a hidden chamber within the tomb itself. Urging them to lose their guides, the Batsons and Theo entered the passage to investigate, however the spirit of Black Adam took hold of Theo's body and attempted to steal a scarab necklace from the tomb.
Billy's father attempted to stop Adam, only to end up stabbed in the back by the reincarnated ancient hero. Marylin managed to escape with half the necklace and towards her hotel room, but was tragically struck down, along with Mary's babysitter. Though Mary didn't witness the horrible events which unfolded, Adam spared her and took her with him back to America. Adam's sister, Sarah Primm was given Mary, who she allowed her employers, Nick and Nora Bromfield to illegally adopt. As for Billy however, he was mad aware of his parents' death, as well as the disappearance of Mary within the months following the incident. This resulted in him being sent to live with his rather greedy and neglectful uncle Ebenezer Batson.
While living under his uncle's neglect, Billy was told by him to steal, however refused. As a result, Billy was kicked out of his uncle's home, where he nearly died of hypothermia and starvation. Taken to a hospital, Billy regained his health and later found Ebenezer left the city, along with the entirety of Billy's inheritance. Even with all this hardship, Billy was able to fend for himself, securing a part-time job as a newspaper boy. On one fateful night, while Billy was working, he was approached by a man who led him to an abandoned subway station. Boarding a subway car with no driver, Billy and the man traveled underground until they found themselves at the source of all magical power, the Rock of Eternity.
It was here, that Billy came face to face with the wizard known as Shazam, where he explained to the young man that he had been chosen to become mankind's new champion. As a result, Billy would be endowed with wisdom of Solomon, the strength of Hercules, the stamina of Atlas, the power of Zeus, the courage of Achilles and the speed of Mercury, all by uttering the wizard's name. It wouldn't be long until Billy would use his powers against his foe Black Adam and eventually, becoming a full fledge member of the Justice League.

- Divine Empowerment: By uttering the name of the wizard Shazam, Billy changes from that of a teenager, into that of a fully grown adult. This usually happens following being struck by lightning, which in turn grants him with the powers of divine origin.
- Wisdom of Solomon: Through the blessings of Solomon, Billy possesses a superior wealth of great knowledge.
- Clairvoyance: Aside from great wisdom, Solomon's blessing gives Billy the ability to sense information not readily available to him. This is done through Solomon's advise, which he gives to Billy.
- Divine Grace: Solomon's blessing gives Billy the ability to deal with others and actions with superior finesse.
- Eidetic Memory: Solomon's blessing allows Billy to see and memorize everything he sees to the most minute detail.
- Tactics of War: Solomon has gifted Billy as a skilled tactician.
- Mathematics: Billy also possesses great mathematic skills, through Solomon's blessing
- Multilingualism: Billy, while transformed, is capable of speaking various languages, including decent Arabic.
- Strength of Hercules: Through the blessings of the demigod Hercules, Billy possesses amazing strength, capable of bending steel, smashing concrete and even matching the likes of Superman, blow for blow.
- Superhuman Leap: Through his great blessings of Hercules, Billy is capable of leaping great distances with his powerful legs.
- Stamina of Atlas: Through the blessings of the titan Atlas, Billy possesses the ability to last for long periods of time without any kind of need for rest while empowered.
- Self-Sustenance: Through Atlas' blessings, Billy is capable of going without food, water or even air while empowered.
- Power of Zeus: Billy gains tremendous power from the blessings of Zeus himself. Aside from the lightning which enables him to transform at will, it also grants him great dimensional travel as well.
- Accelerated Healing: Billy can utilize lightning as a means of healing those around him and himself at a fast rate, even if it's inflicted on their mortal form.
- Dimensional Travel: Billy can access the powers within the Rock of Eternity at any given time.
- Divine Distribution: While empowered, Billy can transfer a portion of his power to whomever he chooses, so long as it is akin to his own family. Through this he can give either similar or different powers, depending on that particular person's personality.
- Electrokinesis: Like Zeus himself, Billy has direct control over the powers of lightning, which he can use as a means of attacking foes.
- Courage of Achilles: Through the blessings of Achilles, Billy is given tremendous inner strength to draw from. It also makes him virtually indestructible to things like lasers, bullets, bombs, rockets, etc.
- Indomitable Will: Through Achilles' blessing, Billy's will is extremely strong willed.
- Immortality: So long as Billy remains in his empowered form, he physically doesn't age.
- Speed of Mercury: Through the blessings of Mercury, Billy can reach speeds comparable to a bolt of lightning, which means he can reach a third of the speed of light.
- Flight: Billy, through Mercury's blessing, can achieve flight at great speeds and even hover in place.
- Superhuman Reflexes: Billy while empowered, is capable of moving to match the reflexes of Superman in combat.
- Wisdom of Solomon: Through the blessings of Solomon, Billy possesses a superior wealth of great knowledge.

Weaknesses
- Inexperience: Despite possessing amazing superhuman powers, Billy is still just a boy, meaning he lacks the experience and skills of a superhero. He also has no knowledge on the extent of his true abilities, making him easy prey for more experienced foes.
- Mortal Form: While Billy is in his mortal form, he's just as vulnerable as any human. There are ways of stopping him from saying Shazam, mostly blocking his mouth.
Characteristics
Physical Appearance
While in his mortal form, Billy is a young caucasian male of his early-mid teens with black hair. As Shazam, Billy takes on the appearance of a 30 year old man with an athletic build, short black hair and blue eyes.
Personality & Traits
Billy has had a trying time in the early part of his life, having lost his parents and sister due to the events which unfolded. Even having to live with his neglectful uncle, Billy's heart remained pure, as he objected to resorting to crime. It is due to this quality that the wizard Shazam bestowed him with his powers and since that day, has used his powers to protect people all over the world and beyond. Despite being bestowed with such god-like power however, Billy is still a kid, so he can be naïve, but also is known to have a sense of humor, cracking jokes whenever it's most tense.
